The Start-Up Kits Project

This initiative was to provide start-up kits to vulnerable women and girls especially IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons).

Touched by the plight of their suffering sisters and children back in Cameroon due to the on-going crises, and believing in the  Chinese Proverb that, "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime"The Camnowga ladies thought of more effective and lasting help for the IDS and collaborated with "Change Care foundation" a local community non-profit organisation that is delivering humanitarian and development programs in Cameroon.

Through Change Care Foundation, Camnoga donated the sum of at 1.197.000frs with 1.000.000fcfa  to assist in local projects .for the IDPs.

Change Care Foundation allocated the funds as follows:

*provided start-up kits to 20 IDPS (Women and Children) selected from various villages in the North-West Region.

The beneficiaries ranged between the ages of 22-50 years. With the funds, they will be engaged in micro-businesses comprising of rearing of table birds for sale (petty poultry farms), the sale of smoked fish, roasted fish, sale of washing soap(Savon)and detergents ( omo). Production of pastries(puff-puff), engaged in Petit trading "bayam sellam"  businesses like the sale of firewood, onions, tomatoes, local spices amongst others.

The handing over ceremony took place on October 19th 2019, at The Esplanade of the youth federation centre at big Mankon. Eighteen(I8) beneficiaries were present for the event while 2 were absent due to ill health. However, their package will be handed to them once they recover.

The women expressed their appreciation to their mothers and sisters in Georgia for the wonderful gesture. They expressed happiness and the fact that they now have a brighter future for they had lost their source of livelihood because of the crisis and are poised to bounce back and help their families with little incomes they will be getting from this.

The Camnowga women equally expressed appreciation to 'Change Care Foundation" for helping them to be their eyes, hands and feet on the ground and confirmed that this a beginning of a great partnership between the two organisations.
